What system components are required to create a web site?

To use the web site services, you will need the following:
  • An Internet-capable computer system -- most modern computers and operating systems are adequate, but the faster the better!
  • A monitor capable and set to display thousands of colors or higher.
  • An Internet connection.
  • A Web browser -- To take full advantage of the web sites, you need an advanced browser with features that are only available in recent browser versions. Any browser you use must allow JavaScript, frames and accept cookies. Although older browsers may still access our site, the site may appear distorted on some pages, and certain site building tools may function only partially. For this reason and because each new browser release fixes bugs and adds new features and capabilities, we recommend upgrading to the most current browser available.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer Users: Minimum browser requirement: Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. Click here for free download.
  • Netscape Communicator/Navigator users: Minimum browser requirement: Netscape 6.1 or higher. Click here for free download.
  • America Online Users: Minimum browser requirement: AOL 4.0 or higher. Click here for free download. For best results, we recommend that AOL users use Internet Explorer or Netscape to surf the Internet using their AOL connection. Check AOL's support area for more instructions on how to do this.
  • WebTV Users: WebTV is compatible with the ownership of a domain name but you can not use any of our web site services.
  • Fire Wall: Some computers which are behind a "fire wall" (typically this is security which is in place at large businesses), cannot gain access to the File Manager to build their web site using our online templates. You can test if this will be a problem for you by going to our online test.
